Men’s Elite Squad

Our Philosophy
Winning a bike race does not make a winning team. It is consistency—the habit of success—that makes a team great, and that is exactly what QCW Cycling found this year.

Our Elite Cat 1/2 squad made up 50% of the top-ten all-around riders in the state. In the amateur ranks, we boasted one of the top climbers, one of the top time trialists, and one of the top crit racers in the country. And it wasn’t just one outstanding rider garnering all these successes: QCW rides as a team and our palmares show it.

Unlike many elite teams who cannibalize other clubs to find talent, QCW takes pride in growing our own. Nearly half of our elite squad started with the team as absolute beginners in the sport. We have kept our talented riders becase as they grow, our team grows.

2010 Season in Review
In his second season with QCW, Brett Keilick started the season off with a convincing solo win in the South Jersey Training Series, and the results kept coming. Brett ended the season as the top ranked Best All-Around Rider in Pennsylvania (PA BAR) proving that he was not just fast, but also consistent through the whole season.

Third year rider Charlie Zamastil had impressive finishes in big races, including a 2nd at the nationally prestigious Green Mountain Stage Race in Stowe, Vermont and a 5th at the 120-man Turkey Hill Country Classic, in a field loaded with area professionals from Jamis/Sutter Home, Bissell Pro Cycling, Kelly Benefit Strategies, and Rock Racing.

In the time trials, Sean Whiteman was undefeated at any distance, including the state championship in the 40km time trial. By late July, Sean was the nation’s top ranked Cat 2 time trialist.

In 2010 QCW Cycling went from success to success. Consistency, dedication and teamwork from all the members of our squad show in the results. With top tens from the remainder of the squad rounding out the season, QCW was the team to beat at local and regional races.

Looking forward, moving up
We are thrilled by our prospects in 2011 and want to move forward to compete at an ever-greater level. We believe that 2010 has been the perfect foundation for us to reach further and to improve as a team.

For talent in 2011, we will be adding 3 more riders to our ranks, all of whom started as Cat 5s with QCW, and all of whom would be top picks for any regional squad. We have a big list of goals, but we believe that we have the background, the team dynamics, and the attitude to succeed. Come along for the ride!
